Balangir: Durga Puja celebrations ended in a tragedy for a family of Jhimanpali village in Odisha’s Balangir district after one of its member died in a hit-and-run case on Sunday night.
According to sources, the accident took place on NH-26 near Piprut village under Saintala police limits when a man, Lakshman Bhoi (45), and his son, Anil (20), were returning home on a motorcycle after witnessing Durga Puja in the neighbouring Siskela village.
Laxman died on the spot after their motorcycle was hit by an unknown vehicle. Anil was rescued by police in critical condition and admitted to Saintala CHC for treatment. The body of the deceased was sent to Titilagarh for postmortem on Monday, sources added.
