Bhubaneswar: Sprinter Dutee Chand set a new national record in women’s 100m at the ongoing 58th National Inter-State Senior Athletics Championships 2018 in Guwahati, on Friday.
On the fourth day, at Sarusajai Stadium, Dutee finished the race by clocking 11.29 seconds, in Heat-2 of the semi-final round of women’s 100m sprint.
Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, tweeted congratulating her along with the hashtag #OdishaForIndia.
With this, she bettered her last year record, when she had completed the 100m track sprint in 11.30 seconds at Indian Grand Prix, New Delhi.
Rahul Pawar, a Twitter user, also posted a video of her completing the race.
Dutee has qualified for the Jakarta Asian Games in 100m and 200m events by breaking through the qualifying time limit at the inter-state championship.
