Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government on Tuesday recommended the names of four eminent sports personalities for the National awards.
Of the four, the Sports and Youth Services Department has recommended ace woman sprinter Dutee Chand for the Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna Award, the highest sporting honour of the country.
Besides, hockey defender and Olympian Birendra Lakra’s name has been suggested for the Arjuna Award and former woman sprinter Anuradha Biswal for the Dhyan Chand Award for lifetime achievement in sports and games.
Apart from this, the department has recommended the name of the eminent hockey coach Kalu Charan Choudhury for the Dronacharya Award.
The Odisha Mining Corporation and KIIT will vie for the Rashtriya Khel Protsahan award.
