Bhubaneswar: India’s fastest woman Dutee Chand, who scripted history by winning a gold medal in the 100m race at the World University Games recently, has requested External Affair Minister S Jaishankar to help her complete visa formalities for a couple of races in Europe.
In a tweet posted on Thursday, Dutee said that she was keen to participate in the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) tournaments slated for August 13 and August 19 in Ireland and Germany respectively.
The 100m dash in two IAAF-approved races will help in her bid to qualify for the World Athletics Championships. But she is yet to get her visa.
On July 10, the 23-year-old Dutee clocked 11.32 seconds to clinch the gold at the World University Games in Naples, thus becoming the first Indian ever to win a gold in the 100m event at a global meet.
She is the third Indian woman ever to qualify for the women’s 100m at the Summer Olympics.
