Patiala: Dutee Chand failed to crack the Olympic qualifying mark yet again.
The Odisha sprinter ran a poor race in the National Inter-State Athletics Championships in Patiala on Saturday evening to finish fourth in women’s 100m final. She clocked 11.62 seconds, to trail Tamil Nadu’s Dhana Lakshmi (11.52), Sri Lankan Amasha de Silva (11.59) and another Tamil Nadu girl Archana Suseendran (11.60).
The qualifying time for next month’s Tokyo Olympics was set at 11.15 secs.
Dutee had earlier this week narrowly missed out qualification when she won the 100m in the Indian Grand Prix stage 4 at the same venue with a timing of 11.17 which helped her rewrite her own National record.
This was Dutee’s last event to earn an automatic berth for Tokyo Olympics. She still has a chance of sneaking in, on the basis of world rankings in women’s 100m.
