Cuttack: Inspector-in-charge (IIC) of Nemal police station in Cuttack district sustained critical injuries after being attacked by criminals on Tuesday.
The victim, Jugal Kishore Das, was rushed to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack for treatment and his condition is stated to be critical.
The incident took place when Das had gone to Bhabarachanda village to arrest a notorious criminal in connection with a complaint lodged against him. The officer was brutally attacked by the criminal along with his supporters, a police officer informed.
Efforts are on to nab the accused, who fled the spot soon after committing the crime, the officer added.
