Bhubaneswar: Deputy Speaker of Odisha Assembly Rajanikant Singh had a narrow escape in a road accident in Angul district on Thursday.
According to sources, the accident took place on National Highway 55 at Panchamahala when the SUV in which Singh travelling collided with a truck coming from opposite direction from Sambalpur in the afternoon. He was going to Balanag after attending an official meeting in Angul.
Both the Deputy Speaker and the driver of the SUV escaped without any major injuries. The right side of the vehicle has been completely damaged in the accident. On being informed, local police rushed to the spot and made arrangement for Singh to continue his journey.
Nobody has been arrested in this connection and the police have launched an investigation.
