Bhubaneswar: The Election Commission of India (ECI) on Friday announced a one-day holiday in Balasore Sadar and Tirtol Assembly constituencies where the bypolls will be held on November 3.
In a release, the Commission said all government and non-government offices, and business establishments would remain closed on November 3 while the employees of government and non-government offices are entitled to avail paid holiday.
Besides, officials engaged in poll duty for a period of three days or more are entitled to a one-day leave that can be availed at any time this year. However, the leave is subject to the production of the relevant certificate from their senior officials, the Commission pointed out.
It further said the voters working outside can also avail the leave to exercise their franchise for which they will have to take permission from their authorities and produce relevant document that they are the natives of their respective constituencies.
