Bhubaneswar: Ace sprinter and Election Commission’s brand ambassador Dutee Chand has landed in trouble after she appeared to support BJD leader Achyuta Samanta, who is contesting the Lok Sabha polls from Kandhamal, on her Facebook page.
A complaint has been lodged against her at the Odisha Chief Electoral Office (CEO) on charges of violation of the model code of conduct.
Wishing him all the best in her Facebook post on the eve of elections in Kandhamal, Dutee said Samanta has been a big source of inspiration for her and played a key role in her success on the field.
“I am extending my wishes to him in my personal capacity and not to any party. It would be improper to make politics out of it,” she said.
CEO Surendra Kumar said the matter is being investigated and her social media account will be verified.
Dutee was made brand ambassador by the Election Commission to promote and encourage citizens to come out in large numbers and exercise their franchise in the ongoing elections.
