Bhubaneswar: Filing of nominations for the ensuing by-election to the Bijepur Assembly Constituency in Odisha Bargarh district scheduled on February 24, will begin from Tuesday, said the Election Commission (EC) in a gazette notification on Tuesday.
As per the notification, candidates would nominations from Tuesday while the last date of filing nomination is February 6. Verification of nomination papers will be held on February 7.
The last date for withdrawal of nominations is February 9.
Polling would begin from 8 AM to 5 PM on February 24 while counting of votes will be held on February 28 and the results would be announced on the same day.
The election process would be completed before March 3, the notification added.
The EC notification received by the office of the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) in Bhubaneswar will be forwarded to the Bargarh district collector.
While the ruling BJD has announced that its candidate Rita Sahu would file nominations on February 5, BJP candidate Ashok Behera is most likely file his nominations in a couple of days, sources in the party said.
However, the Congress is yet to announce its candidate for the ensuing by-poll.
