Nayagarh: The forest and the tourism departments are likely to join hands to boost eco-tourism of four perennial hilly streams in Odagaon block of Odisha’s Nayagarh district.
This plan came to light after Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare Minister Atanu Sabyasachi Nayak along with BJD’s organising secretary Pranab Prakash Das, Nayagarh MLA Arun Sahoo and Badamba MLA Debi Prasad Mishra visited the four sites located at Nihalprasad village of Banthapur panchayat.
They were accompanied by Collctor Rabindranath Sahu, DFO Kshyama Sarangi, BDO Santosh Jena, district tourism officer Mira Behera, director of watershed project Sudhakar Satpathy and tehsildar Anil Acharya.
After visiting the picturesque site on Thursday, the team favoured the proposal for eco-tourism boost of the area. The streams locally known as Sishuputra, Barakanya, Sashushasura and Halashagada and located on Kanakhai hill have been drawing tourists in large number usually in summer.
Kanakhai hill is five km from Canal Chhak on Sharankul-Odagaon road and four km Budhabudhiani dam.
Arun Sahu said, “Four hilly streams in a reserve forest are lying hidden from public view. There is a need to boost the tourism potential of this beautiful place which is already drawing visitors. We have discussed the matter with the forest department and steps will be taken to declare the place an eco-tourism spot.”
