Bhubaneswar: Eminent economist Prof Ghanshyam Das breathed his last at his Baramunda residence in Odisha capital on Monday. He was 93.
Born in Cuttack, Das was an alumnus of erstwhile Ravenshaw College. He did his higher studies at London School of Economics. He held important positions like RBI Chair Professor of Economics, UPSC subject expert member and retired as Director Public Instruction (DPI), Higher Education department, Government of Odisha.
He also headed the fact-finding committee on Chilika Fisheries appointed by the Orissa High Court and his report is widely cited by researchers, sources said.
Das was cremated at Swargadwar, Puri, last evening.
