Bhubaneswar: The East Coast Railway (ECoR) announced cancellation of 20 more trains late on Tuesday with the Cyclone ‘Dana’ expected to hit Odisha coast close to Bhitarkanika and Bhadrak by October 24-25.

The ECoR had earlier informed about cancellation of 94 UP and 103 Down trains under its jurisdiction. With 20 being added to the list, the number has gone up to to 229. It had further stated that comprehensive measures are being implemented to ensure safety of passengers and the integrity of railway operations. “Drawing on past experiences from severe cyclones, ECoR is proactively preparing to mitigate potential impacts on train services,” it added.
A 24/7 Disaster Management Cell has been established at ECoR’s headquarters and divisional offices to facilitate rapid restoration of train services and infrastructure following potential disruptions. Kendrapada, Bhadrak and Balasore are likely to bear the maximum brunt of the severe cyclonic storm.
The South Eastern Railway has also cancelled several express and passenger trains, including Howrah-Secunderabad Falaknuma Express, Kamakhya-Yesvantpur AC Express, Howrah-Bhubaneswar Shatabdi Express, Howrah-Puri Shatabdi Express, and Howrah-Yesvantpur Express.
