Bhubaneswar: The East Coast Railway (ECoR) observes ‘Partition Horrors Remembrance Day’ at different railway stations in Odisha on Sunday.
Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan inaugurated an exhibition on the partition horror at Bhubaneswar railway station. Pradhan and Bhubaneswar MP Aparajita Sarangi spoke on the tragic day in India’s independence struggle. Pradhan felicitated freedom fighters Shyam Sundar Behera and Ramahari Goswami on the occasion.
ECoR General Manager Sharad Kumar Srivastava and Divisional Railway Manager, Khurda Road Rinkesh Roy were also present. The ECoR organised similar exhibitions at Puri, Bhubaneswar, Sambalpur and Visakhapatnam railway stations.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in his last Independence Day speech, had announced to observe “Partition Horrors Remembrance Day” on August 14. Partition Horrors Remembrance Day has been envisaged to bring to light the agony, suffering and pain of millions of people who were displaced during partition.
