Bhubaneswar: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has begun a probe after registering a case against Odisha’s honeytrap kingpin Archana Nag, husband Jagabandhu Chand and two others, sources said on Wednesday.
Those having links with Archana would be served notice. Bank statements of all accused will also be verified.
The Commissionerate Police had recently provided FIR copies of two cases registered against Archana, who allegedly extorted money from rich and influential people in the state, including politicians, businessmen and film producers, to the agency.
The blackmailer and her husband allegedly amassed assets worth around Rs 30 crore within a span of four years from 2018 to 2022 by extorting a huge amount of money from high-profile people including political leaders, ministers, businessmen and other bigwigs.
The ED is likely to investigate the channel through which money flew and may also seek to unearth the reason behind such payments, the sources added.
