Mumbai: Nishad Yusuf, editor of Suriya and Bobby Deol’s upcoming film ‘Kanguva’, was found dead at his Kochi apartment on Wednesday.

The 43-year-old editor’s death under mysterious circumstances, weeks before the film’s release, created a flutter in the Malayalam film industry.

Nishad’s lifeless body was found at around 2 am at his home in Kochi’s Panampilly Nagar in Kochi, PTI reported.

According to a regional daily, Nishad committed suicide. The investigating Kerala Police team is yet to state anything about the cause of death, and is looking at all possibilities, reported Matrubhoomi.

“The unexpected demise of Nishadh Yusuf, film editor, who played a major role in determining the contemporary future of the changing Malayalam cinema is not something the film world will be able to quickly accept. Condolences from FEFKA Directors’ Union,” Film Employees Federation of Kerala (FEFKA) Directors’ Union wrote on its official page and shared a picture of Nishad.

He edited films such as ‘Thallumaala’, ‘Unda’, ‘One’, ‘Saudi Vellakka’ and ‘Adios Amigos’.

‘Kanguva’, his most recent work, is scheduled to release in theatres on November 14.

His upcoming projects included Mohanlal and Mammootty starrer ‘Bazooka’, and ‘Alappuzha Gymkhana.’

In 2022, Nishad Yusuf was honoured with the State Award for the Best Editor for his work on ‘Thallumaala.
