Sonepur: Amid continued protests against 5T Secretary VK Pandian’s whirlwind Odisha tour, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) workers reportedly hurled eggs at his carcade near Kota Samalei-Ulunda road during his visit to Odisha’s Sonepur district on Tuesday.
The protesters alleged that it was not an official visit but a programme by the Biju Janata Dal (BJD).
The Opposition parties in the state have been accusing the 5T secretary of violating the service conduct rules, and promoting the ruling BJD in the name of government programmes.
On June 29, BJP leaders and workers, dressed in black, released black balloons and raised “Pandian Go Back” slogan during his visit to Jagatsinghpur district.

Mounting a scathing attack on the BJD government in Odisha over 5T Secretary, the BJP on Monday sought to know whether action has been initiated on the Centre’s letter pertaining to the IAS officer. Rupesh Kumar, under secretary in the DoPT, recently wrote to Chief secretary Pradeep Kumar Jena and forwarded the complaint lodged on June 24 for “action as appropriate.”
Bhubaneswar MP BJP Aparajita Sarangi had sought disciplinary action against the officer for violating All India service rules by conducting public meetings and announcing new government schemes. Congress too had written to the Centre on the issue.
