Jajpur: Biju Janata Dal (BJD) leader and former Odisha MLA Pranab Kumar Balabantaray faced opposition from the residents of a village in Jajpur district when a group of youths hurled eggs at his vehicle on Thursday.
According to sources, the incident took place near Andaloba village in Dharmasala area of the district when Pranab’s vehicle was passing through the area.
A group of locals, mostly youngsters, tried to stop the vehicle of the former legislator when he was on a visit to the area. Several people in the crowd hurled eggs at the vehicle as the driver tried to speed away, eyewitnesses said.
Sources said Pranab, who was MLA from Dharmasala for two terms, was not affected in the incident of egg throwing.
However, it was immediately not clear as to why the locals targeted the BJD leader and resorted to egg attack.
Notably, the former legislator who also contested the last elections from Dharmasala Assembly constituency, was defeated Himanshu Sekhar Sahoo.
