Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Lalit Kala Akademi has announced the names of eight artists for the state-level award for fine art for 2020-21.
The eight artists are: Biswaranjan Kar and Sudhiranjan Maharana (sculpture), Sujit Kumar Swain (print art), Bikash Chandra Senapati (drawing), Suryakanta Swain (water colour painting), Anup Kumar Chand and Jyoti Prakash Sethi (acrylic painting) and Pramod Kumar Maharana (traditional art).
These artists will receive a cash of Rs 2 lakh, citation, copper plaque and shawl at a special function in the last week of January.
Notably, the Akademi had received 829 photocopies of the art from 515 artists for display at the 39th
State-Level Charukala Exhibition. Later, 237 artistes had submitted their art as per the recommendation of the jury of which eight artists have been chosen.The event was coordinated by president of the Akademi Sudarshan Patnaik, Director, Odia Language, Literature & Culture Ranjan Kumar Das, OSD Manaswini Sahu and secretary Gajendra Prasad Sahu.
