Eight-hour bandh over sub-jail relocation cripples life in Athagarh

Athagarh: Normal life was paralysed in Athagarh of Cuttack district on Wednesday following an eight-hour bandh by lawyers’ association demanding relocation of Athagarh sub-jail.
While vehicular movement was badly affected, most of the shops and business establishments remained closed owing to the strike.
“Even though repair work of the sub-jail here has been completed, the under-trial prisoners continue to be lodged at Choudwar Circle Jail. We condemn this and demand immediate relocation of the sub-jail, which was shifted to Choudwar two years ago for the repair work,” one of the protestors said.
