Eight injured as bus turns turtle in Puri

Pipili: At least eight persons were injured after the passenger bus in which they were travelling, overturned on Puri-Rameswar new Jagannath Sadak near Sukala Chhack on Monday morning.

The victims were rescued by locals and immediately rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment. Many passengers, including women sustained injuries on their head.

The ill-fated vehicle named ‘Suhasini,’ carrying more than 25 passengers, was heading towards Nirakarpur from Puri when the mishap took place.

Eyewitnesses said that the bus driver lost control over the vehicle probably due to over-speeding.

Earlier on January 22, a road accident was also reported from the same place when five persons died after an auto rickshaw in which they were travelling collided head-on with a speeding truck.
