Bargarh/Jajpur/Mayurbhanj/Keonjhar: Eight persons died while four suffered serious injuries in separate road accidents in the state on Tuesday.
In Bargarh district, three people, including a woman, were killed and two others were injured after the
car in which they were travelling fell off a bridge near Paikamala Tarini temple. The ill-fated vehicle was heading towards Jhadabandha from Bhubaneswar when it dashed against the wall of the bridge and fell into a ditch. The injured were admitted to Bargarh hospital.
Similarly, a seven-year-old student died after being hit by a speeding truck at Military Square under Danagiri block in Jajpur district. Following the accident, an angry mob staged a road blockade demanding compensation to the family of the deceased and action against the truck driver, who fled the spot.
The day saw two more deaths in Mayurbhanj district, where two motorcyclists were killed after being hit by an unknown vehicle at Baripada.
In Keonjhar district, two people died and as many were critically injured after being hit by a truck at Satakosia under Thakurmunda. Locals rescued the injured and rushed them to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack.
