Mayurbhanj: Eight migrant Odia workers, including a girl of Bisoi area of Mayurbhanj district, arrived in the district on Saturday on their bicycles.
They were work in a private company in Chennai.
The migrant workers told the media that the company had closed following the nationwide lockdown in the wake of COVID-19 outbreak. “The lockdown caused immense agony to us. We thought we cannot survive here anymore and decided to pedal our way back home,” they said.
They bought bicycles with the money that they had saved and set out for their home state on May 13. After covering 1,600 km, they finally reached home.
