Eight-Year-Old ‘Raped’ By Uncle In Kalahandi

Bhawanipatna: Even as the outrage over Nilagiri rape case is yet to die down, an eight-year-old girl was allegedly raped by her uncle in Kalahandi district on Wednesday.

The incident was reported from Bachaka village in the district.

According to a complaint lodged by the girl’s mother at Biswanathpur police station, the accused identified as Sanyasi Bibhara took her daughter to a nearby forest on the pertext of giving her berries and raped her.

“The victim on returning from the forest narrated the ordeal to her mother. Basing on the complaint, we have detained the accused for questioning and the minor girl has been sent for medical examination. Further action will be taken after we receive the medical report,” Kalahandi Additional SP Gopinath Mani Patra informed.
