Mumbai: Social media influencer Awez Darbar got evicted from the Salman Khan-hosted show ‘Bigg Boss 19’ last week.
During his stint in the ‘Bigg Boss’ house, singer Amaal Mallik kept dragging him into controversies and alleged that he cheated on his girlfriend Nagma Mirajkar with his ex-girlfriend Shubhi Joshi.
After being eliminated, Awez hit back at Amaal, calling the allegations against him baseless.
Awez also labelled Amaal as ‘fattu’ (coward) and slammed him for using his name to gain publicity.
“I have kept quiet for too long, but I can’t anymore. Amaal’s statements are completely baseless. I have never spoken ill about him, yet he keeps dragging me. I don’t know why he’s doing this — maybe to use the platform or to gain attention,” Awez was quoted as saying by HT City.
Expressing shock at Amaal’s behaviour, the influencer continued, “Back in 2019, he had messaged me saying, ‘I see so much of myself in you, the way you were brought up.’ If I was so wrong, why say all of that? Why this sudden negativity now?”
He added, “He knew my work, my style, and even my value system. I was happy to collaborate in the past, but I never expected these false allegations now. And saying he paid us ₹20 lakh and that’s why we are giving him respect, that’s unexpected.”
Clarifying that he has no bitter feelings against Amaal’s family, Awez said, “I want to make this very clear — I respect Armaan Malik and uncle (Daboo Malik) deeply. They’ve always been supportive. If I had to take favors or help, wouldn’t I have asked my father (Music director Ismail Darbar)? He is a national award winner. I would have taken his help and Sanjay (Leela Bhansali) uncle. He wanted to work with me, but I said, ‘No, I want to do everything on my own,’ and he has happily said that in his interviews.”
Expressing frustration over Amaal’s statements, he said, “I don’t understand why Amaal is doing this. Maybe he wants to make personal issues public. Agar tumhe fame chahiye toh mera dost bann ke le lo, yeh sab karne ki kya zaroorat hai. (If you want fame, you can get it by being my friend. What is the need to do all this?)”
He added, “Woh samne kabhi kuch nahi bolta tha. Woh ek no. ka fattu person hai, uska ek hi kaam tha, agar usne pehle aage kuch bol diya hai woh 10 mins mei aa kar samne se sorry bolega. Why do you think Amaal is called ‘sorry man’? The whole BB house calls him that. Even Gauahar called him a dogla insaan, kyunki woh hai.(He never says anything directly. He is a coward. If he says something about someone, then within 10 minutes he goes and apologises to that person.)”
Awez’s girlfriend Nagma Mirajkar, who also looked disturbed by Amaal’s remarks said, “I was shocked and deeply disappointed. I didn’t expect such things to come out. It hurt to even hear it, but I know Awez, and I know the truth. His focus is on us and our future, and that’s what matters.”
