Jagatsinghpur: With four days left for the bypoll to Tirtol constituency in Jagatsinghpur district, Director General of Police (DGP) Abhaya presided over a security review meeting at the district police headquarters on Thursday.
The DGP later told the media that adequate arrangements were made for the smooth conduct of the polls. “I am confident that the election will be held in a peaceful manner,” he added.
Among others DIG (Central Range), ADG (Law & Order), Director (Intelligence) and Jagatsinghpur SP were present at the meeting.
On the security arrangments, ADG (Law & Order) Yashwant Jethwa informed that 21 platoons of police and three companies of the Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) have already arrived in Tirtol.
Besides, 150 officers in the rank of Inspector and Assistant Sub-Inspector and 8 officers in the rank of SP and DSP will remain in charge of law and order.
The ADG further said that as a preventive measure, 75 warrantees have been arrested while about 1,500 anti-socials have been detained.
