Bhubaneswar: The commissionerate police will tighten security in the twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack for Durga Puja, Police Commissioner Sudhanshu Sarangi told the media on Tuesday.
Sarangi said 63 platoons of police will be deployed in the twin cities. Besides, one Rapid Action Force (RAF) and a special commando unit will also be deployed. Policemen in plainclothes will also be stationed at various places in the two cities to curb anti-social activities.
He also said armed police will keep a watch on puja mandaps where the medhas of the goddess are made of gold and silver. “We have instructed all all puja committees to install CCTVs at the mandaps,” he added.
The police commissioner informed that there will be a total of 170 puja mandaps in Bhubaneswar and Ravan Podi will be held at five places.
