Bhubaneswar: Ahead of the ensuing Republic Day celebration the Odisha Police has decided to step uptight security in the entire Mahatma Gandhi Marg in the state capital where the state-level parade would be held.
“The entire Mahatma Gandhi Marg would be under three-tier security with the deployment of 25 platoons of police force. The entire area would be kept under CCTV surveillance. Besides, anti-bomb squad and rooftop security would be also be deployed while 150 senior police officers would be pressed on duty to monitor the security arrangements,” Police Commissioner YB Khurania said.
He further said the striking force team and the Quick Action Team (QAT) would be stationed at sensitive locations to ward off any disruptive activities during the celebration. Besides, for the first time, the National Security Guard (NSG) commandos would be kept on standby to tackle any emergency situation.
He said though there is no specific intelligence input on any terrorist activity, however, basing on the general threat perception, adequate security arrangments have been made.
This year, a total of 76 troupes and seven tableaus would take part in the state level parade.
