Bhawanipatna: In a tragic incident, an elderly couple died after being attacked by a wild elephant at Kadomali village under Lakhbahali panchayat of Odisha’s Kalahandi district.
The deceased were identified as Mugana Majhi (65) and his wife Gada Majhi (62).
As per sources, the elephant broke into the house of the couple and attacked the duo late on Saturday night when the family members were asleep. While some of the family members managed to escape, the two were unable to flee.
The attack was so severe that their bodies were left in a mutilated state.
Forest Department officials visited at the site after getting information about the incident. The family demanded adequate compensation for the loss of lives and properties.
