Bhubaneswar: An elderly man died as lightning struck him on the outskirts of Bhubaneswar on Sunday.
As per reports, 64-year-old Batakrushna Behera of Narada village under Balipatna police station along with his grandson had taken a herd of cattle for grazing to a field at Gotha Padia.
While Behera and his grandson were in the field, heavy rain and lightning struck Balipatna area in the afternoon. They had taken shelter under a tree when lightning struck. While Behera was critically injured, his grandson luckily escaped without any injuries.
On being informed by the grandson, the villagers rushed to the spot and took Behera to the Community Health Centre (CHC) at Balipatna. Later, he was shifted to Capital Hospital in Bhubaneswar as his condition deteriorated. But he was declared brought dead by doctors in the hospital.
