Baripada: An elderly man was killed when a wild elephant attacked him
at Khantapala village in Odisha’s Mayurbhanj district on Thursday night.
The deceased was identified as Kandra Soren.
According to locals, the animal srayed from a nearby
forest, entered the village and attacked Soren while he was sleeping in
his house.
In another incident, the carcass of an elephant was found at
Makarapalli under Buguda forest range in Ganjam district.
Forest officials, who rushed to the spot after being informed about
the incident, suspect the death might be due to electrocution.
