Balangir: An elderly man was admitted to hospital after sustaining critical injuries allegedly due to torture in a police outpost in Odisha’s Balangir district on Sunday.
As per reports, the man belonging to a village under Salebhata police outpost was detained by police following a dispute with some villagers over ownership of a piece of farm land. Later, he was allegedly subjected to third degree torture during questioning by the Havildar of the outpost.
After the elderly man was critically injured in the incident, he was admitted to Bhima Bhoi Medical College and Hospital in Balangir. He is undergoing treatment in the ICU of the hospital. He was in a critical condition, the sources said.
