In the first incident, Gopabandhu Acharya (75) of Amalapada was killed after being hit by a speeding truck at Hanuman Bazaar in Angul when he was returning home on a scooter.

In the second incident, seven persons, including four schoolchildren, were injured after the auto-rickshaw they were in overturned near Chandahandi Ghat at Nabarangpur the same day.

Sources said the accident took place when the students were travelling in the auto-rickshaw from Siunaguda village, with their parents, to appear for an entrance exam at Dhadipani School.

The auto-rickshaw driver lost control and the vehicle turned turtle near Chandahandi ghat. Residents rescued the passengers and sent them to Jharigaon Community Health Centre.
