Elderly Man Mowed Down By Bus, Irate Locals Block Road In Kalahandi

Accident FYIBhawanipatna: Tension ran high after an elderly man was mowed down by a bus at Chancher under Kesinga police station limits in Kalahandi district on Friday morning.

The deceased has been identified as Rengasa Harijan.

According to information, Harijan was walking on National Highway-26 when suddenly the bus named ‘Chakadola’ that was travelling at a high speed hit him.  He died on the spot.

Following the accident, a group of angry locals staged a road blockade by placing the body on the road demanding compensation for the family of the deceased.

Owing to the blockade, movement of vehicles on the road connecting Borigumma and Bargarh was affected for a couple of hours.

On receipt of information regarding the incident, police rushed to the spot and pacified the agitators after assuring them that their demand will be considered.
