Rourkela: The body of an elderly man stuffed in a sack was found from under a bridge in Odisha’s Sundargarh district on Thursday.
According to sources, some local people spotted the sack under the bridge of Sankh river near Jamnanaki under Brahmani Tarang police limits in the district and informed police.
A police team along with Fire services personnel went to the spot and found the body on opening the sack. The dead elderly man was wearing a black jacket.
Preliminary investigation revealed that there were injury marks on the body. He might have been murdered and then his body was dumped on the river bank, police sources said.
The exact cause of death would be known after getting the post-mortem report, they said. But the identity of the deceased has not been ascertained, they added.
The police have registered a case of unnatural death and launched investigation.
