Elderly Woman’s Half-Charred Body Found Inside House In Odisha Village



Rayagada: Partially burnt body of an elderly woman was found under mysterious circumstances in her house at Kumudabali village under Ambadola police limits of Odisha’s Rayagada district on Saturday.

This incident came to light after neighbours spotted the half-charred body of the woman, identified as Chandan Tula Dangari, and informed the police about the incident. The cause of her death remains shrouded in mystery.

According to sources,

the deceased lived alone in her house and had no immediate family members.

The Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) of Bissamcuttack along with personnel from the Ambadola Police Station reached the spot after receiving information and launched an investigation.

Police said forensic evidence is being collected and statements of locals are being collected to establish the sequence of events leading up to the gruesome death. Police are probing all angles into this death including if the death was an accident, suicide or murder. The cause of death of Chandan Tula Dangari remains unclear for now and a probe is underway.

Several questions remain unanswered for now including how the deceased came in contact with fire. This incident highlights the challenges of the elderly population exposing the vulnerability faced by old people living alone.
