Rourkela: Former Rourkela MLA Dilip Ray has hinted at campaigning for his old friend Bijoy Mohapatra, who will contest from Patkura Assembly seat on the BJP ticket.
Dilip and Bijoy had both resigned from the saffron party on November 30 after allegedly being sidelined. After four months on March 28, the BJP convinced Bijoy to return to the party fold and contest the upcoming polls.
“As he is my friend, I will do what a friend should do for his friend,” Dilip told the media after arriving in the Steel City here on Thursday afternoon.
Asked about his future political course, Dilip said he will not join any party. “I will not contest the election this time. But I will work with the party and the leader, who will fulfill the promises for the inclusive development of Rourkela and its periphery,” he added.
The hotelier-turned-politician further said that he will continue to raise his voice for two major issues – a second bridge over Brahmani river and upgrading the Ispat General Hospital (IGH) into a super speciality hospital.
