Bhubaneswar: The Election Commission of India (ECI) on Thursday announced that the model code of conduct, which was in force in Odisha since the announcement of the election schedule, has been withdrawn.
In a letter to chief secretaries of all states and Union Territories on Thursday, the ECI said the provisions of model code of conduct were enforced from the date of announcement of the election schedule by the ECI and remained in operation till the completion of the election process.
“Now, that the results in respect of the General Elections to the Lok Sabha, 2024 and State Legislative Assemblies in Andhra Pradesh, Arunachal Pradesh, Odisha and Sikkim, and byelections have been declared by the respective Returning Officers, the Model Code of Conduct has ceased to be in operation with immediate effect,” the letter said.
Notably, the elections to 21 Lok Sabha constituencies and 147 Assembly segments under those were held in four phases that concluded on June 1. The results of both elections were announced on June 4.
