New Delhi: Even election commissioner S S Sandhu’s name features in the notice list prepared by the Election Commission of India (ECI) as part of the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise in Delhi.
Sandhu has been issued a notice over a mismatch in the spelling of his name in the electoral records, News18 reported after going through the list.
The other prominent figures who have been served notices are external affairs minister S Jaishankar and BJP veteran and former deputy prime minister L K Advani.
Rajya Sabha MP Kapil Sibal, Congress leader Abhishek Manu Singhvi and foreign secretary Vikram Misri are also on the list. Jaishankar’s wife K S Jaishankar also figures on the list of notices issued.
Sibal and Misri have been issued notices as their names could not be mapped with the records of the previous SIR.
The notice list also includes former Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal and members of his family as well as Advani’s daughter Pratibha Advani.
While several prominent figures are on the list of people to whom notices have been sent because of unmapping with last SIR or logical discrepancies, it was Sibal who spoke to the media on the subject and asked whether he is not an Indian citizen.
The notices are part of the ongoing electoral roll verification process, with discrepancies, spelling mismatches or non-mapping with records of the previous SIR cited in individual cases.
