New Delhi: Actor-turned-politician Kangana Ranaut made an embarrassing gaffe during one of her recent election rallies.
The BJP candidate from Mandi parliamentary constituency in Himachal Pradesh ended up attacking her party colleague, instead of an Opposition leader because of a similarity in their names.
She meant to mock RJD’s Tejashwi Yadav, but took the name of Tejasvi Surya – the BJP MP who is seeking re-election from Bengaluru South.
“There’s a party of spoilt princes… whether it’s Rahul Gandhi who wants to grow potatoes on the Moon, or Tejasvi Surya who does hooliganism and eats fish,” Kangana said.
Watch the clip which went viral on X:
Kangana was referring to a viral video where Lalu Prasad Yadav’s son is seen having fish fry. Taking a cue from her senior party leaders, Kangana was looking to attack Tejashwi for eating non-vegetarian food on Navratri.
Tejashwi, who later clarified that the footage was shot before Navratri, took a dig at BJP leaders by saying that he has “succeeded in exposing the low IQ” of his detractors.
On Saturday, Tejashwi responded to a clip of Kangana’s faux pas with a sarcastic post on X.
“Ye mohtarma kaun hai? (Who is this lady?)”, Tejashwi wrote.
Mandi will go to polls on June 1, which is the seventh and final phase of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
