Bhubaneswar: In an innovative way to encourage the voters to participate in the election process, an association of hotels in Odisha has announced 20% discount in the eateries for the people of the constituency who would exercise their franchise.

The offer has come from the Hotel Association of Puri (HAP). It has announced that the people, who would cast their votes on May 25, would be eligible for the discount in all its member eateries in the Pilgrim Town.

Announcing the offer in a presser in Puri on Thursday, HAP president Ramakrushna Dasmohapatra said it aimed at encouraging the voters to participate in the election which plays most important role in democracy in the country.

Stating that the hotel association has joined hands with the district administration in this regard, he said they would offer some incentives to the polling officials. “We will distribute kits containing toothpaste, toothbrush, comb, handkerchief, soap and hair oil to the officials on election duty in the district,” he added.

Meanwhile, District Electoral Officer and Puri Collector Siddharth Shankar Swain appealed to the voters to exercise their democratic rights in large number on the polling day. “Casting votes is not only the rights of the voters but also an important aspect of democratic process in the country,” he added.
