Bhubaneswar: Odisha’s chief electoral officer (CEO) Nikunja Bihari Dhal said election officials were all set for the first phase polling in the state on Monday.
Dhal, in a press release on Sunday, said total 7,303 polling booths have been opened for the voters in four Parliamentary constituencies of Kalahandi, Koraput, Nabarangpur and Berhampur in Ganjam district. Total 62,87,222 registered voters are eligible to exercise their franchise in these booths on Monday, he added.
He further said the polling parties have already left for different polling stations in the four Parliamentary constituencies. While 3.912 polling parties left for their respective areas on May 11, they were followed by 3,391 polling parties on May 12.
The CEO said polling parties were air-dropped in 6 booths located in inaccessible areas of Nuapada district. In many places, the officials had to ferry across rivers to reach the polling stations. He appealed to the voters to actively participate in the festival of democracy in large numbers.
Besides the four Lok Sabha seats, the polling will also be held for 28 Assembly segments under those constituencies on Monday.
