Electricity To Be Restored Phase Wise In Cuttack

Cuttack: Electricity supply to Cuttack city is likely to be restored in a phased manner from Tuesday evening, CESU sources said.

Most parts of the Millennium City have plunged into darkness since the cyclone hit on May 3. The damage to electrical infrastructure in Cuttack city is estimated to be ₹200 crore, CESU sources informed.

Repair work is continuing on a war-footing in Cuttack municipal area.

Electricity has been restored at SCB Medical College and Hospital, Acharya Harihar Cancer Regional Cancer Centre, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Post Graduate Institute of Paediatrics (popularly known as Sishubhawan Hospital) by Monday evening.

CESU sources said around 70 per cent of the 11 and 33 KV lines in Cuttack have been repaired and the rest are expected to be restored soon. CESU has sourced hundreds of trained manpower from other parts of the state, including Rourkela and Sambalpur, to expedite the power restoration process. CESU officials hope that if things move according to their plan, power supply throughout Cuttack would be back to normal by May 10.
