Nayagarh: The electrification of the Nayagarh-Khurda Road railway line will be completed by March next year, said the station manager of Nayagarh Railway Station, Sanjay Kumar Pradhan.
Pradhan informed that at present, three trains are plying from and to Nayagarh. These include two passenger trains plying to Puri and Bhubaneswar–Nayagarh Town Sewa Express to the state capital.
“As these trains are run by diesel locomotives, they are changed to electric locomotives at Khurda Road station, which takes about an hour. Once the electrification in this route is completed, the passengers will not have to wait for long to reach their destination,” Pradhan said.
He further said the railway authorities are considering the demand of Passengers’ Committee to extend Bhubaneswar–Nayagarh Town Sewa Express to Paradip.
Besides, there is a proposal to run one more train from Nayagarh to Visakhapatnam via Berhampur and Palasa, he added.
