Cuttack: The carcass of an elephant was found stuck at the Jobra barrage in the Mahanadi near Cuttack on Sunday morning.
The legs of the elephant were seen near one sluice gate from where the floodwater is being released.
However, the Forest Department is yet to clarify whether the carcass belongs to the elephant that had got stuck in the swollen river at the Mundali barrage on Friday afternoon.
Notably, the elephant, which was stuck at Mundali on Friday, was not found the following morning. Apprehending that it might have either swum to the river bank or swept away by the floodwater, the ODRAF teams had begun a search operation on Saturday.
