Cuttack: The carcass of a female elephant was found near Taila in Rajnagar Sadar under Sukasan reserve forest of the Athagarh Forest Range in Odisha’s Cuttack district the morning on Wednesday.
Some locals found the carcass in the morning and informed the Forest officials who rushed to the spot.
The female elephant, said to about 7 years old, was found lying with blood oozing out of its mouth.
While the exact reason for the death was not immediately known, it is suspected that the elephant might have consumed poison applied to the crops in the nearby field.
The Forest officials have begun an investigation into the incident.
