Mayurbhanj: A herd of 22 elephants strayed into Karanjia in Mayurbhanj district and damaged rooms and walls of Biswabandhu Residential School on Monday night.
According to sources, the elephants entered the village from the nearby forest and gobbled up the rice and the grocery items kept in the school kitchen.
On being informed, forest department officials rushed to the spot and launched an operation to drive the elephants into the forest.
