Rourkela: An elephant herd spotted near the national highway on the outskirts of Rourkela triggered panic in the area on Tuesday night.
More than 50 forest staff were deployed to prevent the herd of 18 elephants from entering the city.
According to reports, the elephants from Hatibandh forest had recently strayed into human habitation and damaged crops.
