Elephant Kills Woman In Odisha’s Mayurbhanj

Baripada: A wild elephant attacked an elderly woman and killed her at Khadikoshal village under Betnoti forest range in Mayurbhanj late on Friday night.

The woman has been identified as Sumitra Dehury, wife of Sarbeswar Dehury from the Khadikoshal village. The woman was apparently sleeping when the elephant broke into her house looking for food.

Officials said that elephants have been taking a lot of lives and damaging properties in the village for years. The officials of the forest department have initiated an investigation into the matter.
