Elephants Enter Slum, Run Amok In Odisha Capital; Check Details

Bhubaneswar: At least three elephants from the nearby Chandaka forests entered a slum here on Thursday morning and ran amok, injuring one person.

The elephants reportedly entered Saraswati basti and ran amok, damaging hutments and crushing vehicles. Slum-dwellers woke up to the sound of their trumpets and started running helter-skelter in panic. Scared by the commotion, the elephants went on the rampage. One person was reportedly injured. The forest team was informed, which rushed to the spot and chased away the elephants into Chandaka.

Sources said that an elephant calf entered the human habitat on Wednesday night, which probably drew the elephants into the slum in search of it.
